The Battle is Lost [Closed]

The day was just breaking. This was it. The final confrontation. They win, they banish the threat of griffons for a while. They lose, the war is lost. And few were still in the camps for the soldiers. Of these few lies Steel Strike, a great Battle Smith, who could repair armor or weapons quickly and effectively. He sat in his tent, await the casualties that would ensue. He hated that part of battle, watching casualties fly by, their lives ticking away. However, this day was to be different. A day he would not forget.

Steel was sitting at his post. Yet things were eerily quiet. He heard the din of battle far off, but it sounded different. Suddenly a colt flew past his tent, then another. Before long what was left of the Equestrian Army was fleeing from the battlefield. Steel Strike was confused, but determined to stay his post. He'd fight to the very death if he had to, to protect Equestria. As long as he was breathing and their was no other commands, he'd fight.

Suddenly he saw a white blur fly past his tent.

With barely audible sobs, Princess Celestia galloped from the castle. The Griffon Kingdoms had become victorious. Equestria had been routed. Yet, as she fled, she saw one loyal Equestrian, who stood by his post. He was no war-hero, no mage. He was a simple smith. Tears streaming down her face, she halted, for less than a moment.

"Smith, the battle is lost. Leave your post. Please... leave. Spare yourself, lest you lose all you loved..." With a final sob, she outstretched her wings, and flew away.

The Smith could not believe what he was hearing. The Princess had just ordered him to...Run away. Steel Strike panicked and began to run. As fast and as hard as he could. He had to get away. From this madness, this world that made no sense. From the griffon kingdom, who had won the battle, and subsequently, the war.
