He also takes a great interest in the histories and lore of other species, becoming enthusiastic about learning about different species in the world, as well as teaching others about his. If he says that he will do something, he will devote his time and energy to do what he says he will do, as he absolutely hates things being left unfinished. For the most part though, he minds his own business opting to listen to others talk.
History
:
Born is a far off land from Equestria on an island in a country called Neighpon, he had a normal life like everyone else. He helped his family do chores and work the fields. When he wasn't helping his family, he was always listening to stories his grandfather told, which were stories about the history about the country, as well as other things about it. He became very interested in his grandfather's stories, especially when he talked about the music and martial arts of Neighpon. He even enjoyed listening to his grandfather play on the traditional instrument of the island, which is a smaller banjo - like instrument with only 3 strings. When Tida was around 13 years old, Neighpon was preparing for war against its neighbor, as soldiers used his village as a base of operations. The news was grim, as it was reported that the Neighpony army were losing to the advancing forces. With the dwindling resources, as well as the knowledge that the enemy was going to be at the village shortly, the soldiers stationed at the village started to become violent towards the villagers. They started to demand whatever little food the villagers had as well as their houses for shelter, and had them executed if they did not give it to them. The soldiers also told them things such as that the enemy was ruthless and would do terrible things to them if they were captured, and the only way to avoid this was to kill themselves. The enemy forces eventually reached the village, and everypony retreated to the southern part of the island. Some jumped off of the cliffs out of fear of what the Neighpony soldiers said was true about the enemy, while others took refuge in caves. Tida and his family were among the ponies who decided to hide in the caves. Even though the ponies who decided to hide in the caves had shelter from the enemy forces, ponies were still dying from malnutrition, diseases, and the Neighpony soldiers. Luckily, the war was over as the enemy came and captured the ponies who were still alive in the caves, one of which was his grandfather. Contrary to what the Neighpony soldiers told the villagers, the enemy treated them well and did not do horrible things to them. Unluckily, Many of Tida's friends as well as his mother and father died in the caves. On top of that, when Tida and everyone else returned to the village, they found it completely destroyed. Tida vowed to never forgive both the enemy as well as the Neighpony army for the things that happened to their village as well as the island as a whole. About a year later, the surviving ponies managed to rebuild their village somewhat, but they started to lose their identity, as they discarded their old ways to embrace the change that was happening around them. There were still some that wanted to keep the old ways, but most of them passed away due to their age. On his deathbed, Tida's grandfather told him to never forget where he came from, as knowing what happened before, be it good of bad is a part of one's identity. He also told Tida to let his anger at the Neighpony and enemy go, as they were doing what they were to survive, and help those in need whether they were an enemy or not. Tida's grandfather gave his instrument to Tida as a memento, as he realized that any culture could disappear at any time and be forgotten, so things of that nature should be preserved. It was at that point he earned his cutie mark. He left the island a short time later, and found his way to Equestria, namely the city of Manehatten. He found a job at a school in Manehatten, teaching history since he loved to learn about the histories of other species and anything related to it. He also spent his free time at the library to learn more. However, this all changed when the Griffons took over Manehatten, instilling martial law upon it. He began to have flashbacks during the time when his home country went through the same thing. At first Tida wanted to take up arms to fight the Griffons, but he remembered what his later grandfather told him, and also remembered that the enemy army occupying his village were helping them to rebuild their lives. He vowed to help those in need, and hopes that the war would end so that no more needless suffering and death of any of the races would happen again.
