An Easy Sale? Empty An Easy Sale?

Post by Sassaflash Wed Jan 29, 2014 10:55 pm

December 17th, afternoon

Radiant slowly roamed about her shop, making sure everything was in its proper place and dust-free. Eye appeal is buy appeal after all. This day seemed to be like any other: go out in the morning to see a client, buy something from or sell something to them and come back to watch the shop for the rest of the day. Though, despite what seemed to be monotony for anypony else, the tall mare didn't seem to be bothered by it in the slightest. In fact, she loved the routine of doing what she enjoyed most: business.

The cream-coated earth pony made her way behind the display shelves and into the back room to organize her most recent purchases before they would go on display, knowing she could hear anypony who may be in the front of the store easily.

Steel trotted along main street, taking in the wares and the sights. The underground was nice for what the rebels and ponies like himself needed.  However,  sometimes, it was just nice to adventure above ground and get a taste of some fresh, albeit at times muggy, air. Nothing was really catching his eye as he furthered down Main Street farther than usual.

Although he wasn't wanted, he preferred to be farther from the epicenter of the action. And although main street felt safe he wanted to venture a bit. As he went he saw a small store catch his eye. 'Radiants Rarities.'  he thought as he saw the sign out front.  'That sounds interesting.'  he said pausing out front.

Radiant made careful notes of everything in the storeroom, picking up a few pieces that had been in there for a little while before carefully making her way back into the front room with the pieces balanced upon her back. She gently set the items onto onto of the display cases, using a key to open up the small sliding door behind said case to place the artifacts inside.

Looking up from her organization, she spotted a dark-colored stallion just outside the front window. The tall mare gained a sly smirk upon her muzzle once she noticed his eyes looking towards her sign. "Maybe today won't be so slow after all... Come inside...you know you want to." She said quietly to herself as if her thoughts would pull the pony into her shop.

Steel didn't notice the mare, and was instead staring at the front pieces. He ppersonally loved little shops like these. They had a small town feel, in an otherwise big city. He always kept an eye out for them. Still, this was on main street. For all he knew this could be scam artist of the century in there. He shook his head, as if to dispels the thoughts.

'Don't be so paranoid Steel. It doesn't hurt to look. ' he thought, and with a hesitant hoof towards the opposite direction, he instead placed it in the direction of the shop, heading for the front door and entering the shop.

Bringing a hoof up, Radiant lightly flipped the long bangs in front of her left eye before moving around the counter. The mare tilted her head downward slightly to make eye contact with her customer once a comfortable distance from him. "Well, good afternoon sir, welcome to my humble pawn shop." She greeted in a polite tone of voice. "Feel free to browse, and if you see anything you like, don't be afraid to speak up."

A calm chuckle escaped the relaxed mare, as she turned herself to the side. "I have many different items from all over the world. I'm sure there's something that will grab your interest."

Steel entered the otherwise unremarkable shop. It seemed to consist of mostly decorative items and knick knacks. He nodded to the mare. "Thank you.  I will definitely do that." he said absentmindedly. He was used to dealing with customers and was on auto pilot when in the shop. He picked up a toy pony ballerina,  and held it in his hoof, staring at it, and setting it back down.

He was walking down one of the aisles when he noticed a table, filled with snow globes of all kinds. "Quite an impressive collection you have." he said noticing most of them appeared to be knick knacks that used to fill gift shops in Manehattan. However one caught his eye. It showed a single Shack of a house on a small hill. It reminded him of his home a little bit. Upon picking it up he saw that snow covered the shack in minute detail,  and in the front yard, stood an orange pony and a dog, sitting and staring up.

He put it on his back,  determined to buy it once he had examined the rest of the store.

A small smirk came to Radiant's face upon seeing the stallion pick up the snow globe, quickly hiding it under a neutral expression as was her norm to keep the customer from seeing how much she wanted their bits. Rule number one of the seller's code: Don't give away how willing you are to make the sale. Make them offer as much as they're willing to pay.

"I see you're admiring my collection of snow globes. Not many rare pieces among them, but they are very beautiful, if I say so myself." She said in a calm tone while subtly shadowing her customer.

Steel hardly noticed her as he continued to trounce around the shop. He saw a few things here and there but nothing caught his eye. He was near the front desk when he noticed a very small shelf with a small box on it . It seemed very inconspicuous, and he guessed probably many didn't think to look at it twice.  Still he saw it, and to him he felt like it was very unique. He slowly opened it to reveal some wooden figures. Beautifully crafted at the time, but there age showed through. There was a Celestia one, done up how she was usually portrayed in story books. Intrigued he discover the box held many miniatures of ponies, such as Star Swirl the bearded. He was instantly hooked.

He took the box with him straight to the counter. "How much for the snow globe and the box full of figurines?"  he asked politely.

Radiant made her way towards and behind the counter, looking at the items before to the stallion's eyes. With a confident little smirk, she spoke up. "For those...that will come to one hundred and ten bits." She responded casually, obviously having worked with numbers much higher than those. "What do you say sweets? We have a deal? You seem pretty entranced by those figures."

Steels face dropped.  "110 bits? For figurines and a snow globe? What is this, the secret millionaire store?"  he asked flabbergasted that they would come to such a price.

Radiant chuckled softly, having expected the reaction from the other pony. "These figurines are one of a kind pieces made generations ago. You'll never find another set like this in your life." She replied coolly, hoping to coax out a sale. "Though, if you so wish, I can take the price down to an even hundred."

Steel shakes his head in disbelief. "And the snow globe? And if these are so rare why weren't they displayed?"  he asked. He was somewhat dubious of the mare, though unsure if she was flat out lying.
