Personality: Manic requires a specialized medication to treat a variety of mental illnesses. When medicated he can be erratic and odd, but he is usually nonviolent and is often pleasant and courteous. He will never be cruel or deliberately antagonistic when medicated unless The Plan requires it. He is highly intelligent and can quite often read the body language of those around him. When he needs to be he can be extremely manipulative, but he prefers subtlety when he has to resort to such measures. He isn't opposed to combat and can defend himself when needed, but he still considers it to be a last resort, only to be used in defense or when called for by The Plan.

When medicated he is governed by a council of sub-minds brought about by his medication, which refer to themselves as the Collective. The exact number of sub-minds runs from several thousand to the low millions, depending on where he is in his dosage cycle. Every part of his mind is divided similarly, all working in sync to combat his insanity, which is constantly threatening to overwhelm them. The 'true' Manic, on which all of the sub-minds are based, is locked deep within his brain. In the event of a containment breach by the original Manic the Collective will attempt to kill the body by manually stopping the heart. (His thoughts take the form of conversations between individual or groups of sub minds and will look like normal conversation without quotation marks)

Over his lifetime Manic has built up a level of resistance to his medication, but the effects of his frayed sanity become much more apparent as its effect fades. Normally low-level hallucinations become full-blown auditory and visual hallucinations, sending him into a nightmarish hellscape. He sees hostile presences, feels insects nesting under his skin, and hears voices which encourage him to commit horrible crimes, among other things. He becomes delusional and sadistic, often going out of his way to harass, torture, and later kill others in increasingly creative ways. He ceases to care about The Plan, focusing only on fulfilling his own desires, most of which involve the suffering of those around him. When in this state he retains all his prior knowledge and intelligence, making him a considerable threat.

The Plan: Early in his life Manic wrote The Plan. It is contained within a small, but fairly thick, brown book. It is written in no less than twelve languages with forty complex codes, for which ciphers are not provided. Each page is covered in writing and drawings. There are puzzles as short as a line and others that run from the beginning of the book to the end. There are also riddles and many lines of poetry, mostly encoded, within its pages. When writing the book Manic knew that the medication which he would soon begin taking would cause his mental facilities to rapidly decline. In order to ensure that his goals would be achieved he wrote The Plan in such a way that each part would be deciphered by his future, vastly less intelligent self and later by those who followed after only when it was needed. While The Plan can perfectly predict future events if read properly, it is impossible to do so without near-omnipresence. At times The Plan dictates that Manic do or say things which would be detrimental, or downright dangerous, and he obeys because he reflects on his past self as semi-divine.

History: Manic was born the second foal of a single mother in a small cottage outside of Canterlot. He excelled in school, earning the top marks in the class, though he had few friends. This may have been in part due to a genetic mutation which caused his wings to grow to several times the size or normal pegasus wings. He could fly quite fast but was never particularly agile and was forced to wear wing braces until the bones filled in more. Even after he no longer needed them he continued to wear variations of the braces, eventually modifying them to allow blades to be fitted and detached as well. He took to using his wings more as an extra set of limbs because of their size and weight. As such they are quite strong and flexible relative to the wings of other pegasai.
When he was seven he suffered from a psychotic episode which left several ponies, his mother included, dead and his older sister permanently scarred and comatose. He burned his home and several nearby cottages to the ground and fled to Canterlot where he was quickly apprehended by the Guard. He promptly escaped prison only to be recaptured once more at the outskirts of the city when he boarded a train transporting special operations soldiers. Five were severely wounded before Manic was subdued. One of the ponies they were escorting was impressed and had him sent back to a high-security research lab. The pony eventually became Manic's adoptive father.
Upon reaching the age of eighteen Manic followed his new father into research in an unnamed branch of the Equestrian government, commonly known as the Black Department due to its position in the Equestrian 'Black Book' of undisclosed government expenses. When he was twenty-three he began work on The Plan. Manic spent a decade and a half in the Black Department primarily focusing on advanced mechanical and biological engineering, eventually heading the biological section. During this time he also worked with other sections of the Department including the various paramilitary and field research branches where he learned survival skills and combat techniques.
Throughout his early life Manic suffered from regular psychotic episodes with increasing frequency. He created his medication when he was thirty-three and finished The Plan several days afterward. He did not take his medication immediately after finishing it. The concequences of this became clear when he slaughtered the entire Department including his adoptive father. With ambushes and traps every occupant of the facility died between midnight and six AM. The severence of communications prompted reconnaissance and assault teams to be sent in. By the time they entered the facility however, Manic had already fled.
Manic spent the next seven years of his life traveling the world in an attempt to escape the agents sent after him by Celestia. She couldn't risk the knowledge and skills he posessed falling into the posession of other nations. After dozens of her agents had been killed, usually by brutal traps and only rarely by Manic personally, a deal was struck. Manic could live in peace if he agreed to reside in the most isolated town in Equestria, a snow-locked fortress city far to the north in Equestria on the border of Griffin territory. Manic agreed and lived there fairly quietly until the invasion. While not of great strategic importance to the Empire in their invasion, the fortress city was an excellent defensive position with a relatively strong garrison which made it an important target. When the invasion forces assaulted the city however, they found it deserted. There were no corpses, but not a single sign of any ponies leaving could be found. Swords were still on their racks, fires still lit, and mugs of cider still sat on tables at the inn and bar. The town's inhabitants have not been found to this day.
Manic's next appearance was in Cloudsdale where he had several contacts at the rainbow factory. It mysteriously stopped working several days after his arrival and the doors and windows were all barricaded from the inside. When the main doors were finally battered open it was to find all of the workers who had been on shift nailed to the ceiling by their wings with their vocal cords removed. Most had died of blood loss by the time they were found. They were removed and work resumed within a week but marks of the incident still remain, even over a decade afterward.
Throughout the invasion and occupation Manic continued traveling across Equestria, sabotaging the pony resistance here, burning a griffin barracks there, building siege weapons for the highest bidder, etc. It has never been discovered which side he truely supports as information and violence have been directed to both sides. Over time he has built up a small cult of followers who, their faith having been lost in Celestia and Luna, revere him as the messiah and The Plan as a holy book. While his followers are small in number they tend to be nearly as fanatical as Manic is, believing that the fufilment of The Plan will lead to the end of all suffering and an eternal utopia. There is no passage in the book stating this as the end result. He has followers on both sides of the conflict, griffin and pony alike, which can give him considerable sway at times, though he rarely uses it.

Normally don't post here, just wanted to say....Awesome job. This character seems extremely crazy, and I'm actually quite sure I never want to meet your character. But it was well thought out, and well written. I'm just worried you won't find anyone to RP with, with credentials like that. xD

can you maybe make him in his 40's? he just seems like he would be a bit old to fight much at that age.

Head-on physical confrontation isn't his usual method of assault. He prefers to ambush and manipulate others and will almost always try to avoid combat. Staying in shape can give people many years of combat ability, well beyond the age I assigned to him. I hnow several 60- and 70-year-olds who have kept in shape and they're VERY capable of combat. I would prefer to have him at the original age I assigned to him, but I've gone ahead and pulled back his age 11 years. Is there anything else I should look at?

Extremely sorry about the wait Manic,Trackers been Afk for a while... And I'd hate to bring out some bad news....So let me start with good news instead! ^_^
I really like the character, it seems he could be a challenge for both pony and griffon kind, and seems crazier then Zweihander (Youllsee what Imeanif you ever meet him)

However I have to point out a few things. Although The Plan can predict the future, and you don't possession the ability to use its future prediction, I think that should be axed. Not The Plan itself mind you, just get rid of the future telling thing and Ill be square with that.

Also your physcotic episodes.....a bit extreme. He took out anentire department, village, and pegasi factory? Doesn't that seem slightly OP, even for acrazy person? Make them a bit more realistic and I should be fine.

Also no clue what Trackers talking about above.... Ill sort it out with him if I can. For now ignore it.

I'm sorry, but some things have come up and I don't think that I'll have the time to RP here any more. And please don't think that that's an excuse not to change my character, it isn't, life just happened to swamp me all at once Now that I've had some time to think on him a bit more I'd like to rewrite Manic into a format that I think would make him a much more fitting character for this setting. When things calm down IRL I'll be sure to check back in with some new changes. Thank you for how welcoming you've been, I'll try not to take too long getting back.
