Song of Flowers [Private]

Post by Sweet Harmony on Wed Nov 20, 2013 3:30 pm

December 9th
12:00 AM

Sweet Harmony stood in the streets, ponies slowly milling around as she tried to look up at the sun. Her light sweater tight against her body as she tried to fight off the wind, a light on the chilly side today. Emotions flowed through her as she watched the ponies and griffins of the city walking around, living their lives like it was always like this. After a few moments of smiling she started to hum, softly increasing in volume as she opened to sing a light "Laa la la."

She smiled as the music filled the air, bringing a happy mood around her as she thought of something to sing. A song came forward as she started walking through the street, thinking of the buildings and ponies gleaming in the snow.

"A little fall of snow♪
Calmly coming down♫
The way that we both go♪
Wrapped in our winter gown♫"

The song rather soft as it rang out across the street, any who heard it would smile, or at least try to with the happiness of the voice behind the song effecting them. It filling even the most grumpy with a warm feeling to try and smile.

Mirror went straight back to the city after she had met Fire Ruby at the farm. She had a disquieting feeling as she entered the gate. Without being aware of where she went she followed the Main Street.

Deep in her thoughts she eventually heard a soft voice singing. She looked up. A young mare was coming her way. But she had a special fur. Purple with red streaks. Mira almost thought of her as a strangely coloured zebra. But getting closer to her Mira noticed the back part of her's. She blinked a few times. Though she had wandered around the land the last few years she had never seen something like that before. The mare's back was griffon. The fur turned into feathers, her hind legs were the ones of a lion.

Amazing... Mirra stayed where she was. Curiously but friendly she watched this young... mare if she was called a mare.
And also amazing was her voice. Mira, as she corrected her saddle bag, noticed that she sang a song about winter. A winter like Mira hadn't seen in years. So she stood, watched and listened.

Harmony smiled as she walked along the street, looking from face to face. The smiles spreading like wildfire as she kept singing. Her notes varying in volume as she proceeded with the song, noticing a mare showing interest in her as people around the square seemed to look at the source of the voice. Her tail swishing side to side as she walked around the street.

"The air is still and clear♫
We are all alone♪
I hold this moment dear♫
December's finally here.♪"

Ponies seemed to look at one another and nod with friendly words to one another. The song was happy and it was catching like wildfire with the ponies who heard it. Whether they know who she si or not the song simply made them feel joy inside their hearts.

As Mira recognized that the mare had noticed her looking at her, she quickly looked away. Though other ponies and griffons on the street did the same, Mira still felt embarrassed about starring at another one. Especially cause she could take it personally. It's not often that you see a zebra griffon. And probably this poor thing is often looked at this way. Probably she didn't like it much. Probably...
Mirror shook her head. It was nonsense. She shouldn't care about the mare that much and simply go her own way. Until she realized that she didn't know where she wanted to go.
So Mira stood there all alone and because she didn't know what to do otherwise, she looked again to the singer. Probably, she was a street singer. Maybe Mirror could spare a bit for her for listening to her song.

"This month, its promise
to calm us down
reminds me of silence
hecticness must drown"

Harmony did another verse before turning her smile towards a strange mare who seemed to be staring at her. She jumped for joy as more and more of the street's occupants looked at her, the smiles on their faces was all she needed. Those smiles proved that this city still had some decent folk who loved to be cheered up and smile at a time in their lives.

So she locked eyes with the mare who seemed to be staring, the scars on her form seeming to glow as the stripes moved on their own will. Slowly they formed notes that traveled around Harmony as she sung. Quarters, half, eighth, and wholes seemed to wander as she sung.

"For the snow is quiet
and white and clear
keeps us reminding
that we still are here
And a lonely red rose rests on the white.
Rests on the white
Rests on the white"

The singer was looking back at her.
Mira uncomfortably twitched with her shoulders so that her saddle bag moved and a little wooden box fell to the ground, while Mira's eyes instead fell on the singer's fur. Were that...? Yes, it probably were. Scars. Mirror blinked a few times. They seemed to be old, too late as if she could do anything against them...

But before she could further think about the scars, the words of the song reached her ears which led them into her mind. She looked into the singer's eyes and couldn't turn her head away anymore. We are still here.
Mira breathed in.
And a lonely red rose rests on the white.
Mira didn't breath out.

Harmony watched the mare she locked eyes with. She noticed her stepping forward and a box drop out of her bag, so the zerrif started her way towards Mirra. Her voice still carrying up and down the street as the mare bent over to pick up the box.

"The children play, laugh, sing
A snowpony is built
just a minute within
a happy time's begin"

When she picked it up, she sat on her haunches. A smile on her face as she held it out to Mirra and kept singing a few more lines while looking at the others around. Most of the traffic in the street was stopped and all were listening into the song with a smile.

"And I see a red rose
laying on the snow
with it's bright, warm glow
leading us the way to go"

As Mira saw that the other mare coming towards her, she looked shortly at the ground, then left and right because she didn't know where to look. She took a small step backwards but then the singer picked something up and held it towards Mira.
Oh, was the sound of her thoughts. The singer held one of her boxes in her hooves. It must have fallen out from the bag, Mira mused. She smiled thankfully and took it.
The singer turned towards the other ponies and griffons and Mira watched and listened.

Harmony was happy to reutrn the box and when she turned to the  rest of the street she finished that small snippet of song before going back to the chorus as she raised a hoof to have them try and sign along.

"This month, its promise
to calm us down
reminds me of silence
hecticness must drown

For the snow is quiet
and white and clear
keeps us reminding
that we still are here

Mira wasn't sure if she was supposed to sing along as the singer raised a hoof though it really seemed like that. She looked around what the other ponies around here would do. Some looked as unsure as herself but some tried to form the words. So did Mira in the end. The last three lines were left and Mira sang them calmy, more to herself than to others.

Harmony sighed after the verse, seemed the the ponies around her didn't want to try and sing but oh well. She was happy to sing for them all if she had to, so with a deep breath she started the last and final verse of the song, looking back to Mirra now. The zerriff standing up walk past the mare, heading into the street again.

"In this beaut'ful month
I follow a rose
And finally I can see
what we are meant to be

A little fall of snow
a glowing small red rose
Hope will never die
not even in the winter's coooolllldddd"

Here we are, thought Mira. The singer had noticed her more than enough to look back at her. Again. She really had to spend a bit for her. But Mirror couldn't see any hat or bowl where she could put it into. And then the mare began to walk.
Mira looked after her, then followed slowly. She was curious about the song and felt obliged to.

Harmony didn't notice she was being followed, focusing on the ponies and griffins around the street. A smile here and there before she walked around noticing the way everyone smiled. After a moment she turned to see Mirra following her, raising a brow "Hello there."

The singer had ended her song and Mira stopped walking. Well, that was a pretty song. She frowened for a moment while she was trying to remember the words and melody. The song was worthy to be repeated, to be known. Though Mira would never sing in front of other ponies like this mare here. Mira hadn't a voice like hers. But the singer's voice was just amazing.
Then the mare turned around and saw Mira. "Hello there", she said. She seemed to be surprised to see her again, Mira thought, judging by her raised brow. So she and the other listeners weren't meant to follow.
"Hello", Mirra said immediatly. Her body tensed. Embarrassing, akward. What to do now?
"I really liked your song", she said after a few seconds pause. The first and probably best thing to say in such a situation. Or - so though Mirra.

Harmony smiled as she looked Mirra over, taking a moment to see if the mare was going to pass out or not. When she didn't the zerriff slowly put a hoof on the mare's shoulder  and smiled. "Thank you. Now how about you keep breathing normally and we talk a bit more?" She giggled and waved a hoof of in a direction as the rest of the passerbys and watchers simply looked around and wondered why they were there. A lot of them blushing and scooting away to return to their work.

She...what?, was Mira's thought. "Well, I didn't mean to stop breathing", she said. "I believe I once heard that it's vital for life." She said it in a casual tone. "So, where did you learn singing like that?"
Now, that the singer offered the oppurtunity to talk to her, Mira thought she should take it, looking expectantly into the other mare's face.

Harmony looked back into Mirra's face and smiled wide. The little joke made her laugh before she started walking in the street, waving a hoof for Mirra to follow. "Well I've always been able to sing. I was born with it you could say."

Mira smiled as the other mare laughed, and hurried to follow her.
"That is great. I wish I had been born with such a wonderful talent. But well, my talent is something completely different." She laughed. "Are you from Manehatten?", she asked. Since the singer wasn't a pony apparently she could also be from the Griffon Kingdoms. Mira was careful not to talk about her occupation though she really needed to sell something soon.
