Random Encounter: The Griffon Barbeque (OPEN)

Post by Griffon Guerrillas on Thu Jan 24, 2013 6:14 pm

(((As with all my RE's, the time will be set for the first person to enter.)))

Three drunken Guerrillas rounded a bonfire of improvised rubbish and furniture. In front of them sat a building like many around the area, except this one was on fire. The Guerrillas knew about the fire- in fact, they had set it. Occasionally a screaming pony would try to run from its open doors, and they'd swoop down on it, dropping the poor pony back into the blaze from above.

A few Pegasus made it out, and news quickly spread down the grapevine of the three Griffon's and their crimes. It was about midnight, and set in front of the three were the charred corpses of about six ponies, in various states of being consummed. A small table had been set out in their drunken revelry, and atop it sat a tray heaped with the cooked pony meat.

The fire continued to burn, and the screams of the many trapped inside filled the air...

Tayari sneaked around the corner of a nearby building, keeping very low and out of sight, having traveled from his home some distance away, keeping out of sight of everyone as best as possible. 'I just hope that worked.'
In addition to the usual five vials he carried, of which the two toxins had been replaced with sleeping poison, he'd brought a large bag with him, containing a blanket and a number of vials filled with water, each separated by the blanket itself to avoid excess noise. The bag's weight was significant, and it'd slowed him down greatly, but he wasn't going for speed but stealth, and its dark colour helped matters.
He focused on the building ahead. Even from this distance, he could feel the substantial heat of the flames. 'Forget the way over here. I hope this works. Need to get those griffons out of the way, and do what I can to at least try to suppress the fire. And the direct approach won't work for me... not well, at least.'
Now, taking a single water vial in his mouth just in case while leaving the rest of the bag on the ground by the building, the zebra waited for any possible opportunity for him to take.

The griffons sat in the narrow street, enjoying their equine steaks. Their focus was totally on the spectacular fire blazing in front of them. If a pony wanted to approach them, he could do so easily as long as he kept to the back alleys or encroached from an angle out of sight.

The three griffons seemed to be relatively unnarmed. A few large blades were strewn about, but they seem to have been used for cutting the meat. That said, a basket for of molotov cocktails lay next to their reclining spot, and whenever the fire appeared to be dying, they'd lob a couple into the blaze...

(((Other approaches to this thread exist, but I can only sorta read your intentions through your posts. So if your wanting to do something besides approach from the front, I'd suggest you ask so that I can add something for you.)))

Tayari examined the situation, thinking up and occasionally discarding a plan. 'I do need to get those griffons out of the way... I could try to lead them here, but I can't exactly use this spot to my advantage. Unless... Fumes. That could work. Set things up here, so that they look at broken vial and the bag, breathing in fumes all the way...'
Some thinking done, Tayari grabbed and drained one sleeping poison vial onto the ground before him, holding his breath in order not to breath in too many of the fumes. Backing away, he shoved the bag slightly closer to the puddle.
'All right. Now, just...' The zebra took the empty vial, and threw it on the ground hard enough to shatter loudly. 'All that stuff to examine, right by the puddle, all factors considered... let's hope this works,' he thought as he hurried around the other corner of the building, in the direction from which he'd originally arrived.

(((Sorry for the absence, but I am back now.)))

One of the griffons heard the shattering and notified the others. Within moments, they were claw-over-talon trying to race to the sound. A thought had occured to the group as a whole, that perhaps somepony had escaped the inferno and was now making their way down an alley.

They swooped down upon the back, tearing it to shreds. They fought for it, punching and nipping at one-another for the opportunity to examine it's contents. The first to collapse from the potion-works did little to alert the others. The other two were too busy scuffling to give notice. When the second fell limp in the third's arms, the third yelped, assuming he'd just killed his compatriat.

Finally, the third collapsed as he took aloft, as if his wings suddenly lost all hope of flying. The three slumbered on the ground, in varying states of potion intoxication.

A single Aeryie Griffon hovered above, perplexed but not willing to investigate. He watched about, looking for a potential solution to his confusion.

Tayari discretely watched the antics of the drunk griffons. 'That was far more effective than I'd hoped. Then again, it looks like they were drunker than I'd supposed.'
A quick look around at roughly eye level revealed seemingly no more guards. As such, Tayari moved slowly to approach his bag again, holding his breath and entirely failing to look up.

The griffon swooped down with an efficiency unseen in these parts, grabbing Tayari as Tayari in turn had grabbed his bag. He quickly rose, up and over the building, hovering briefly over the inferno, before dropping Tayari onto the blaze.

The zebra plummeted a few yards before he hit the roof, crashing through in a plume of splinters and woodwork. He landed relatively cushioned- the burnt out roof was suprisingly spongy, and when he landed it was without any awkward angles or motions.

The room was warm, and a bit smokey, but otherwise untouched by the blaze. It was about four stories up, and had a little barred window looking out over the scene, from which the Aeryie griffon could be seen pawing at his intoxicated comrades.

The room was a colt or fillies bedroom, judging by the wallpaper and the tiny furniture. The wallpaper had begun to peel back from the walls, and had begun to smolder a bit in corners, perhaps indicative of the larger blaze...

Tayari experienced all these events unfold suddenly, barely having time to process all that was happening until he landed inside the building and took a look around.
As he took in the fact that he was inside the building he'd been trying to save, Tayari began to panic. 'What do I do, what... this wasn't the plan. What do I do!?'
Forcing himself to calm down and think this through, he considered, 'I need to get out of this building. Fast. It's not so good being- oh no I don't know what I'm doing- I need to get out, and find as many others on the way as I can, I suppose.'
Some thought put into his situation, the zebra nervously walked out through the door in the room, trying his best to hold off his panic, and looking around himself constantly.

Crimson flames licked the halls, heat billowing up in suffocating sheets. Tayari stood on an island of lumber, the rest of the floor having collapsed below him. Several muffled screams eminated from the floors below, which were a small hop to reach.

The options were few, but another route showed itself. A doorway was open, just a few meters away, and if Tayari could somehow manage to bridge the distance there may be something in the room of interest...
